Exercise Snacks planner

Have you ever tried exercise snacks? The evidence suggests exercise snacks work for:

  • Improving cardiovascular fitness

  • Enhancing metabolic health (blood sugar, insulin sensitivity)

  • Building muscular strength/power (with appropriate protocols)

  • Breaking up sedentary time

  • People who "don't have time" for traditional exercise

The Exercise Snack Planner turns the research on short, vigorous bursts of movement into a schedule you can follow today.

Choose how you want to move (bodyweight exercises, stair climbing, brisk walking, bike sprints, or resistance bands), pick your starting level, and set your age, wake-up time, and how many snacks you want. The planner then spreads them across your day with suggested times, durations, and specific exercises.

Each plan also shows your total active time, an effort level with a simple “talk test” so you know how hard to push, and an estimated heart rate range. A short note on the next step tells you when to progress, so you can build up gradually.

The planner draws on the Weston et al. (2025) scoping review and the sprint snack protocol of Little et al. (2019), and it is intended as general education rather than medical advice.
