Dairy guide
The Dairy Guide helps you work out which dairy foods suit you. Tell it whether you are a woman or a man, then tick what matters to you: lowering your type 2 diabetes risk or managing your weight, heart and stroke health, bone health, a family history of Parkinson’s disease, or, for men, prostate health. The guide gives you a suggested number of daily servings and your best picks. It also rates plain yogurt, cheese, whole milk and low-fat milk as a best pick, fine, one to go easy on, or one to limit.
If you tick more than one concern, the guide uses the most cautious rating and explains where the research pulls in different directions. Each concern comes with a short summary of the evidence from meta-analyses, umbrella reviews and a large Harvard cohort study. It reflects that dairy affects different conditions in different ways, and that much of the evidence is observational, so it shows associations rather than proof of cause.
The guide is for general education only. It does not apply if you are lactose intolerant or have a milk allergy, so talk to your doctor about your own situation.
